Our history is long and eventful.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MILESTONES

1945

After the end of World War 2, Willy Bäume founds a wholesale business for bakeries and grocery shops in the Vogtland region.

1948

The purchase of the flavour production, recipes and apparatus of the Hamburg businessman Heinrich Karow marks the beginning of the production of flavours, pastes and food colours.

1950 - 1959

The orange and lemon peel pastes that are still well-known today are developed in Plauen and sold throughout the GDR.

1971

The company founder Willy Bäume passes away. His wife Thea carries on the business.

1990 - 1991

Operations come to an almost complete standstill. Managing director Thea Schulke successfully fights for the company's continued existence. Slowly but steadily, sales and demand are growing again.

ab 1993

The old production and storage facilities of Heinrich Karow Nachf. KG are gradually being demolished, rebuilt or modernised.

1997

Thea Schulke leaves the company at the age of 61. The daughters Steffi Bäume and Annette Hiller take over the business.

2002

The demand for organic products is continuously increasing - with our organic lemon paste we are awarded the BIO certificate.

2005

With our newly developed, freshly certified organic orange peel paste, we are represented for the first time at the world's largest organic trade fair, the BIOFACH in Nuremberg.

2007

We receive certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and the IFS Checklist Version 4 in May 2007.

2008

On the occasion of the company’s 60th anniversary, we proudly look back in a big celebration - and look forward with a zest for action. With Marlene Bäume and Björn Kaiser the next generation joins the company.

2009

In October, we provide proof that the requirements for certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 have been met.

Since 2010

We are continuously expanding our product range in response to changes in the market. This also includes increased participation in trade fairs, including international trade fairs to expand export business.

2012

We are a practice partner of the vocational academy BA Plauen in the food safety course. In this way, we are committed to training skilled workers in the region.

2016

We move into our new building in the Reißig industrial estate in Plauen. Modern production and working conditions and up-to date storage and logistics facilities form the basis for our future development.

2020

The new company location at Reißiger Gewerbering in Plauen is further expanded with new capacities. We receive the IFS Food certification.

2021

In the midst of the Corona pandemic, we launch our online shop. We expand our production, build a new warehouse and expand research/development and quality assurance.

2022

Wir eröffnen unsere neugebaute Schaubackstube mit Seminarraum und Kapazität für 60 Personen. Außerdem treiben wir unsere Internationalisierung voran und erweitern unseren Webshop um individualisierte Plattformen für europäische Händler.

2023
